Keystone Safari is Licensed by the US Department of Agriculture and is inspected and permitted by the US Fish and Wildlife Services, PA Department of Agriculture and receives oversite from other government and private entities. Notable births this year include the endangered Bactrian Camel calf “Chilly,” and the extinct in the wild Barbary Lion cub “Simba.” Feeding the Reindeer and the Giraffe continue to be a favorite activity of many guests who visit the park. Well over 100,000 guests have visited the park in its first year of operation. The facility is home to many rare and endangered species including Giraffe, Mandrill Monkeys, Barbary Lions, and many others. Keystone Safari opened to the public for the first time on Black Friday, 2018. There are over 50 species that can be visited and some fed throughout the walk-thru section of the park. Shoppers will receive a 20% discount on gift shop merchandise, and season passes will continue to be on sale through December 27, 2019. The Park will open at 12:00PM on Black Friday. The park is open every Thursday and Friday from 4:00 PM-9:00 PM and every Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 PM-9:00 PM. These weren’t your typical onion rings - they were glazed with a thyme honey. We also ate at the Towne and Country Grille/Bakery, a casual place with a fantastic onion ring appetizer. The portions were large, and the service was excellent. My husband loved the steamed clams appetizer. I recommend the salmon and Laura’s Salad. It was so good, in fact, that after dinner there, we went back for lunch the next day. It featured rustic decorations and a down-home atmosphere, and the food was absolutely amazing. While in Tunkhannock, we had two meals at The Fireplace Restaurant, about 3 miles outside of town. Robin O’Neal Smith Where To Eat In Tunkhannock When we left, the line was about 3 miles long! We were there when they opened, and the line was about a mile long. The display opens at 5 p.m., but be prepared to wait about a half hour or longer to get in, especially if you’re visiting on a weekend. The Grinch, Frosty the Snowman, and the Abominable Snowman were all available for photo ops. ![]() Alvin and the Chipmunks brought back a lot of memories from yesteryear. ![]() Snoopy and the gang from Peanuts were there. The winter wonderland outside, with its life-size cartoon characters from Christmas favorites, entertained visitors as they waited in line to get into the store. Inside, we marveled at the handmade chocolates and the variety of candy from our childhood days. There was quite a line to get in, but the experience was worth the wait. Due to COVID mandates, only a few people were permitted into the small store at one time. He later moved to another location and carved a snowman ice sculpture.Įbb’s Candy Jar was our next stop. As we approached, the sculptor was working on a deer head with antlers. The first sculpture, depicting two gingerbread people, had already been completed.
